Billing Contacts

Critical Health Systems of North Carolina's billing is handled by Instream.  If you have questions about your bill please contact Instream directly at 919.873.9533 or 1.888.280.9533.  You may also visit Instream's patient information section online at www.instreamservices.com/faq.htm.

Please be ready to provide the following information when contacting Instream:

  • Patient Name
  • Guarantor's Name
  • Primary and Secondary Insurance Carrier
  • Insured's ID Number
  • Daytime Contact Number (or email address)
  • Expected Date of Surgery

Anesthesia Charges

Critical Health Systems of North Carolina (CHSNC, Raleigh Practice Center) is a private practice and bills on a fee for service basis. We do not work for the hospital (s) and our services are not covered in the hospital bill. Our fee is based on several factors, including the nature of the surgical procedure and the time involved for your case. The hospital will charge you separately for anesthetic medicines, gases, and use of monitoring and disposable equipment. CHSNC, Raleigh Practice Center, or the hospital, according to the hospital location, may bill for the nurse anesthetist charges.

CHSNC, Raleigh Practice Center bills your insurance company for services rendered associated with anesthesia care. We will await communication from them before (1) submitting a claim to your secondary carrier, or (2) billing the balance to the patient. CHSNC, Raleigh Practice Center participates with most health plans. If you are not covered by a health insurance plan, please contact us after you have been billed for the procedure to set up a payment arrangement.
